The jobs

What volunteers actually do

Every station on the floor runs on people. Tell us what appeals and we will place you.

Head Elves

Teach a build table how to assemble a bike. The most hands-on job on the floor.

Runners

Move bikes between the build floor, the air stations, quality check and packing. Never still.

Quality Check

Inspect every bike before it leaves. Nothing goes out unless it is right.

Santa's Repair Shop

Fix anything the inspectors flag. Six pairs of fix-it elves.

Packing Depot

Pair each finished bike with its helmet, lock and tote.

Setup & Clean-Up

Build the room the night before and reset it at the end of the day.

Welcome Desk

First face every guest sees. Check-in, name badges, pointing people at cocoa.

Reveal Crew

Come to the schools in December and hand the bikes over yourself.

What you get

Fed, watered and kitted out

All food and drink

Lunch, cocoa, snacks and the open bar — same as the build tables.

The whole day

Music, a school choir, Santa, the vendor market and the count climbing on the big board.

Good to know

One day. Hundreds of hands.

Turn up at 10, leave at 4, or do a few hours in between — we will build the rota around what you can give.

Prefer the emotional end? Join a reveal crew instead and hand the bikes to the children yourself.

Under 18? Get in touch before registration opens — we will let you know what is possible.

Questions

Before you sign up

Do I need any experience?
None. Whatever station you land on, someone will show you what to do. Most jobs take about two minutes to learn.
Can I bring a friend?
Please do. Put both names on the list and we will keep you together.
Do I have to stay all day?
No. Tell us the hours that suit you when registration opens and we will build the rota around it.
What should I wear?
Something festive and closed-toe shoes. You will be on your feet on a warehouse floor.
Can I volunteer at a reveal instead?
Yes. The reveals are on December 10–16 — say so when you sign up.
Is there parking?
Plenty, and it is free, right on site at the Navy Yard.
